Margaret's Chocolate-Cherry-Marshmallow Crazy Cake

One package Devils Food Cake Mix
Oil and/or eggs required for cake mix
One can Cherry Pie Filling
One package miniature marshmallows
  1. Grease and flour (with Bakers Secret spray or manually) a 9”x 13” rectangular cake pan
  2. Prepare devils cake mix according to package directions.
  3. Spread the miniature marshmallows over the bottom of the cake pan.
  4. Carefully pour in the cake mix over marshmallows without pushing them out of place.
  5. Using a large soon, carefully spread a thin layer of the cherry pie filling on top of the cake mix.
  6. Bake at the temperature on the cake directions, for about 10 minutes longer than the time indicated for a 9” x 13” pan.
  7. Check cake for doneness. If center of cake looks wet, bake for at least 5 more minutes.
  8. Recheck cake for doneness. Insert toothpick in center. If dough sticks to the toothpick, bake a little longer.
  9. When toothpick comes out clean, cake is done.
  10. Place pan on wire rack to cool.
This cake is really rich and moist without frosting. If you want to decorate it for company, lay a paper lace doily on top and dust with sifted powdered sugar. When you remove the doily, a lacy pattern remains. That’s all it needs.
